A rake chase is different than a rake race. In a rake chase the players are rewarded for reaching different levels as they play. Once they reach each level their points start over towards the next level. Each chase may have a selected number of positions for each level. Once that many players reach that level, that particular level is unavailable to any new players. So it is possible reach higher levels even though lower levels are complete. Below in the Carbon Poker 500K rake chase a player will receive $2.50 when they have created 250 points. Then they would receive five dollars when they create 500 more points. So for the five dollar level they have actually created 750 points, not just 500. In this example they are using points instead of actual rake numbers.
