Aggressive Poker

The game poker has been growing in popularity in the recent times. Most players who come in prefer aggressive play. Double barrel is an aggressive poker play and has recently found much popularity due to the coverage that television gives for the game. So what is actually meant by double barreling and in what way can we make use of it.

Continuation betting

After raising pre flop we usually prefer a continuation bet. The main reason behind this is that by throwing pre flop you are showing a strong hand to your opponent and anyone who calls your bet now if the flop comes of different suits, you can assure yourself that the game is in your favor. Your opponent has not moved or made anything and it would be worthwhile to continue with your bet with a strong hand and make the opponent fall before you.

The way your opponent reacts to your play would determine whether you should go for double barreling or not. Double barreling means that you continue the bet on the turn with the purpose of bluffing your opponent and making something for yourself. While you have made your original bet, there would have been only three type of response from your opponent. If the opponent folded, then it means that you have won on the spot.

Double barreling after call on the flop

Your understanding of the opponent’s play would come into play if the opponent called. You would have to decide whether you move with double barrelling or not. Do you think that your opponent is moving on with some game plan? Is he planning a flush draw? If you are sure that he is going with some plan and is definitely going to attack you then you should necessarily consider going for double barrel. This would be a very good bet and would ensure that the game will be in your hands. On the other hand if you think that your opponent is not planning such a move and may be playing slow with the cards, then you should carefully decide whether to double barrel or not. In a situation where your opponent have called your flop bet but not with a strong hand it is the right decision to double barrel. We could understand from his move that he has lost his confidence and this move would seal the game for us.
